Obtuse privacy

Effective October 7, 2026. This policy describes Obtuse version 1.0.

Obtuse runs offline. The app has no accounts, advertisements, analytics SDKs, tracking, or network requests. The app does not send your motion readings, hinge readings, guesses, scores or player names to the developer.

Motion and hinge readings

Tilt uses Apple's Core Motion gravity, rotation and acceleration readings to accept a steady angle guess. Fold uses Apple's native hinge readings on supported iPhone Duo devices. These readings are processed in memory on your device and are not transmitted or retained as a sensor history. Start, Done, leaving the game and app interruptions reset the active reading window.

Local game information

The onboarding preference and solo best score for each input mode are saved locally using the app's own preferences. Party names and round results stay in memory for the current match. Obtuse has no cloud sync service. System backups may include app preferences according to your Apple backup settings.

Apple services

Purchases, App Store downloads and any optional system diagnostics are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; the Obtuse app does not include its own billing or diagnostics collection service.

Support email

If you choose to email [email protected], the support team receives the email address and information you include. This is separate from the app, which sends no support or diagnostic data automatically. Please do not send passwords or payment information.

Your choices

You can leave the game or change input modes at any time. Deleting the app removes its local app data; backup copies are governed by your device settings.
